Welcome to Southend
Welcome to Southend-on-Sea - one of the UK’s newest cities - a vibrant and diverse place with many opportunities and challenges.
We want the very best chief executive for our unitary authority. Someone that staff want to work for and makes them feel valued. Someone who can lead a strong team to deliver transformational change across the organisation and deliver on our ambitious plans and strategies for the benefit of our local community.
You’ll be the sort of person that relishes complexity, building relationships and partnerships, tackling issues and working in a thriving city by the sea that attracts millions of visitors each year, but has aspirations to build a much stronger economy and foundations beyond that and boost our profile and recognition beyond the region.
Our robust and active politics means we don’t always agree across the chamber, but as political leaders across the city we are united in our vision and aspirations as we seek an outstanding chief executive.
A chief executive who will lead a more modern, agile and forward-thinking organisation helping Southend-on-Sea to grow and ensuring it works collaboratively with all stakeholders and partners to improve their outcomes and drive success across the city.
We are also looking for a Director of Legal Services and Monitoring Officer. You'll be innovative and collaborative, and someone who can give balanced strategic advice and guidance in a political setting. Building relationships with members and others colleagues whilst promoting good conduct and effective decision making will also be vital.
If you are interested, ambitious, clear thinking and excellence driven, find out more by visiting either the Chief Executive or Director of Legal Services and Monitoring Officer pages of this site, or by contacting Julie Towers at Penna on 07764 791736. We look forward to meeting you soon.
